Give the Gift of Literacy!

Help the Roseville Public Libary change lives!
This holiday season, the Friends of the Roseville Public Library need your help to support literacy programs for the Roseville Public Library, focusing on programs and services for Roseville's underserved communities.
While the general perception of Roseville is one of an affluent suburban community with thriving upscale shops and every restaurant one can imagine, that is not the case for Roseville’s core neighborhoods where 25% of households live in poverty, more than 80% do not have a high school diploma, and unemployment is nearly 13%! These numbers are 3 times the average for Roseville as a whole and put those neighborhoods, of which 60% are minorities, at a significant disadvantage in our community.
The Friends and the Roseville Public Library want to bring the power of the public library to the 2600 households in our core neighborhoods who do not currently have library cards. Through a comprehensive program targeting our underserved core neighborhoods, our goal is to increase library usage and awareness of services, as well as expand resources available to the community.
Literacy is not just good for the individual, it is also shown benefit the community as a whole by leading to lower crime rates, stronger economic development, better community participation to name a few. The programs the Roseville Public Library provides at no cost to all ages of our community really do change lives. As one patron recently put it:
“Thanks to the assistance I received from the library staff, who helped me with creating a resume and helped in searching for jobs, I now have a good job and am able to pay rent and buy food for my children.”
Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 by the end of the year, and the only way we can make that happen is with your help! Any size contribution will make a difference and we hope one donation option is right for you!
