Join California Humanities for an exclusive screening of the award-winning film Romeo is Bleeding at the beautiful One Kearny Club in San Francisco. This special evening supports California Humanities’ work to celebrate the people of California, and to provide a platform for ingenuity, generosity, and affirmation of our shared humanity.
Funded in part by California Humanities’ California Documentary Project grant program, Romeo is Bleeding follows Donté Clark, a young poet growing up in Richmond, California, as he works with students to rewrite and stage an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet set in the streets of Richmond.
Following the film, Donté will join us for a conversation about the documentary and the role of the arts and humanities in community-building.
Enjoy complimentary light bites, movie snacks, and a hosted bar of beer, wine, and soft drinks.
Tickets are $50
