January Green Drinks Happy Hour
Slow Disaster, Fast Disaster, No Disaster: Resilience Lab with Kay Tita
Sustainable Seattle Happy Hour Green Drinks are FREE events. Donations are encouraged as these community events are not possible without YOU. Thank you in advance for your generosity, we will see you January 14th for our first Green Drinks of 2020, and we've made this a special one.
The first of Sustainable Seattle’s CULTURE + LANDSCAPE series (Jan - March 2020) is a partnership with Kay Tita as part of RISING FROM THE RUBBLE, honoring the tenth anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The earthquake was more than a natural disaster; a systemic failure on a global scale underscored the loss of, by some estimates, a quarter of a million lives.
Since this tragedy the community in Port-au-Prince have shown a high level of resilience, innovation and perseverance. It is our privilege to join Kay Tita in “honoring those that passed and recognize those that have chosen to rise from the rubble in pursuit of building bridges to create lasting positive impact.”
At this interactive lab, we honor survivors and those lost by examining the social, technical, and environmental conditions that underscored the disaster, and strategize together to further establish prepared, resilient, and just communities both in Seattle and Haiti.
And of course, we do it all in solidarity and with a toast to our Haitian peers.
