COOKING MATTERS For the Family
Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters is a cooking and nutrition curriculum developed and taught nationally. It is a class where one adult and no more than two children learn to cook together. This series runs for 6 weeks and throughout the series, participants learn about healthy eating, food budgeting, strategies for grocery shopping, meal planning, food safety, and basic cooking skills. By the end of the class series, participants are confident in their ability to shop for healthy foods on a budget and prepare healthy, affordable, home-cooked meals, leading to increased food security and self-sufficiency. Each week participants get to take home a free bag of recipe items to also prepare at home. At the completion of the 6-week program, there are also some free kitchen utensils.
Due to limited space, we can only accommodate one adult per two children. Child participants must be 7 years old or older to participate.
