Young Botanist (ages 8-13) July 13-17th
Investigate and Explore with ABG!
Let your child become the plant expert on your next hiking or camping trip! Designed for ages 8-13, campers will explore the forest around the gardens learning to identify native plants, invasive weeds and focusing on local pollinators. This camp is a FULL Day camp only (no half-day registrations) due to two off site walking field trips to nearby Baxter Bog and Campbell Creek. This camp is taught at a more advance level and campers need to be able to hike up to 3 miles a day as well as able to write in and keep a daily journal. All camps take place in our unique garden classroom and on 110 acres of natural Boreal Forest! Expert staff lead campers through fun, hands-on, science-based environmental education activities. All camp materials are provided as well as weekly take-home projects. Adult to camper ratio is 1:8.
Our camps are held outside rain or shine in our tent covered outdoor garden classroom. Campers staying the full day or enrolled in our morning session should pack a lunch and snacks for each day. Campers joining us for the second half of the day are welcome to join us for lunch from 12:00-12:30 and should also pack snacks. All campers need to bring extra clothing layers, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, closed-toed shoes (no sandals), and a backpack. Please leave all toys and electronics at home.
Early drop off is from 8:45-9:00am and all campers must be picked up at 3:30pm. Full Day camp runs from 9:00am-3:30pm and Half Day camp runs from 9:00-12:30pm or 12:00-3:30pm.
