Due to COVID-19, 2020 Lenten Breakfast is canceled, refunds available
A message from Bryan D. Smith, LCCM Executive Director
As a society, we find ourselves uncomfortable, scared, worried, and many other feelings or emotions with the current COVID-19 pandemic. What does this all mean for our communities, our neighbors, and our friends? What is God’s plan in all of this? Is he forcing us to rest? Is he forcing our families to reconnect? Is he asking our communities to be communities and focus on loving thy neighbor?
Regardless of your position on the COVID-19 pandemic, Lebanon County Christian Ministries is being forced to cancel our Lenten Breakfast. We know this is a special event for our community and we are sad to not be able to share the love of Jesus with each other on this special Saturday morning. And for those who have attended in the past, we appreciate your sadness as it relates to missing the delicious breakfast.
We will not be rescheduling the breakfast and will be looking toward finalizing the planning of our other upcoming events. We appreciate many of you have already paid for your tickets and we want to offer you the ability to receive a reimbursement for your tickets. The only way we are processing refunds is if you please click here and provide your name, address, phone number and refund request amount. LCCM will issue you a check that will be sent by mail. If you do not want a refund, your payment will be considered a donation to LCCM.
We still need you. The Lenten breakfast has become a top supporting event for LCCM over the many years it has occurred. If you do not request a refund, your ticket money will be accepted as a donation to support the ministry. Additionally, the freewill offering has provided financial support for many individuals in our community who find themselves in need. We anticipate additional needs of our community through the next few months as the economic impact of COVID-19 may be significant.
We ask you to consider giving today by supporting the ministry by:
- Giving to our Lenten Breakfast/40 Days and Nights of Shelter campaign that our wonderful board members are leading the charge on to raise $14,400 to fund 40 days of shelter for guests at LCCM's FRESH Start Emergency Shelter and Resource Center. You can also help support us by creating your own fundraising page. You can donate or create your own fundraising page here.
- Becoming a monthly donor through our Love Your Neighbor campaign. Monthly donors will receive opportunities throughout the year to get a behind-the-scenes look at LCCM over dinner with leadership twice a year.
- You can support us by mailing a donation to: Lebanon County Christian Ministries, 250 S. 7th St., Lebanon, PA 17042
- Is it your birthday? Create your own birthday fundraiser to support LCCM and share it with your friends via social media or e-mail! Create a birthday fundraiser today
It is through individuals like yourself that we can provide for our community. We hope that you will prayerfully consider a small donation. We remind you that it is a little from many that provide for LCCM.
We thank you for your continued support of LCCM and hope to see you in 2021!
Originally started as a men's prayer breakfast, the Lenten Breakfast is an ecumenical event that now attracts more than 450 people from Lebanon County and beyond for a delicious breakfast, inspiring speaker, and uplifting entertainment.
The 2020 Lenten Breakfast will be held Saturday, March 28 from 8-10 am at the Cedar Crest Middle School auditorium. The speaker is Steve Sabol, community pastor of LifeWay Church. The Celebrate Recovery Praise Team band from Church of the Good Shepherd will provide entertainment and close with a group sing.
LCCM is setting a goal of raising $14,400 to fund 40 days of shelter at LCCM's FRESH Start Emergency Shelter and Resource Center through a special fundraiser involving our 14-member board during the Lenten period, sponsorships to underwrite the cost of food at the event, as well as a freewill offering.
Here's how you can support the special board fundraiser, 40 Days and Nights of Shelter.
FRESH Start is one of the main safety net programs that we provide to our clients, in addition to food and clothing. The resource center is a place where the guests can prepare their meals, do their laundry, take showers, and list as a reference when searching for work and/or housing. The day shelter is housed within the walls of LCCM, but we still rely on partner churches to house the clients during the overnight portion of the program.
Well into its sixth year of operation, the emergency shelter serves an average of 15 guests per night. During these six years, a steady stream of families and individuals who have found themselves homeless for a variety of reasons, have found the services provided by FRESH Start invaluable - especially children. Children range in age from infant to 18 and generally make up one-half of the individuals served by the emergency shelter.
The most pressing need LCCM faces at this point is that of funding for staff. As a Christ-centered and Kingdom focused ministry, LCCM is driven by its compassion for each and every client it serves and every partner and supporter with whom it engages.
