PURIM MaChatzit HaShekel and Matanot LaEvyonim
Machatzit HaShekel $7 or $21 per person MATANOT LaEVYONIM feed Poor Jews
“Speak to the Children of Israel and let them take for Me a portion, from every man whose heart motivates him you shall take My portion.” (Exodus 25:2)
The Mitzvah of Matanot La'Evyonim Can Be Any amount but should be at least the value of 2 Mishloach Manot. We Suggest $100 or more if possible. it is preferable to spend more on Matanot La’Evyonim then on the Purim feast or Mishloach Manot. One should preferably give enough so that the poor family will be able to make use of the sum for the Purim feast.
The Mitzvah of Machatzit HaShekel is an opportunity for us to help the poor religious families we know in Israel. Each Machatzit HaShekel (lit. half HaShekel) is the equivalent of .33 of an ounce of Silver, which is approximately $6.00 per person (Example: Family of 5=$30). Some have the custom of giving 3x this because the word TeRumah appears three times in the verse dealing with Machatzit HaShekel (See Exodus 30:11-16) (Example: Family of 5=$90). We added $1 per person for processing/banking costs to transfer money to Israel.
If you want BeEzrat HaShem Inc. to give your Machatzit HaShekel to poor religious families we know in Israel, then you can Donate here. Deadline 14th of Adar (March 10th, 2020).
