NE Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative
Developing the next generation of natural resource stewards in NE Michigan
The Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative supports place-based stewardship education projects that get hands in the dirt, feel in the water and hearts in the community. Alongside community partners, youth develop as stewards of healthy ecological systems in their communities and the Great Lakes region. They also crack open their own curiosity and begin to tap into life-long learning.
In 2023 we:
- Engaged 4.437 students in place-based stewardship education projects
- Supported 85 teachers in professional development and/or funding for place-based stewardship education projects
- Supported a network of 100+ community partners, connecting and supporting them to PBSE opportunities
