Leading Your Domestic Church in the Days of COVID
A Free Online Meeting for Parents
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, and fellow parents-in-quarantine:
How are you holding up?
This was not how I was expecting to spend my Lent. We’re stuck at home (and for good reason!) Many of us now have more time on our hands than we could ever imagine, and at least outwardly, we have less freedom and control. Many of us are attempting to parent full time and work full time, from home, and without childcare. We’re with our children 24/7, and it’s hard. But we know this time of social distancing, what some people are calling “quarantine,” is important, too. It’s important because we have the opportunity to love and serve our children and spouses in ways that we never did before. It’s an opportunity to live our Faith in the privacy of home, and we want to do that with integrity, but we also need support and encouragement. Here comes, “Leading Your Domestic Church in the Days of COVID-19.” This is an opportunity for parents to listen to some encouraging words of faith, some practical tips, and to talk with one another about their struggles and successes in leading their “domestic church” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This mini-series on parenting will be led by Lindsey Maria Birdsall, M.Ed., and the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at St. Michael Orthodox Church. Lindsey is an experienced teacher and youth worker who is currently parenting a spirited five-year old boy. As a parent, teacher, and youth worker, Lindsey has drawn lots of inspiration from the works of Sister Magdalene of St. John the Baptist Monastery in Essex (UK), Dr. Philip Mamalakis, and the works of Dr. Dan Siegel.

“Seek First the Kingdom of God” (Or, putting on your oxygen mask first) - We all know this is essential, but why do we forget? How can we regularly make space for prayer that calm and authentic? How can we live Liturgically at home?
April 13, 6pm PST/9pm EST
Big Feelings, Big Ministry Opportunities - Are
emotions running high in your household? (You’re not alone.) How can we love
and lead our children in a Christ-like way, when their feelings seem unmanageable?
What do we do with our own feelings?
April 20, 6pm PST/9pm EST
Enjoying Your Family, Even in Close Quarters - We’re all spending a lot of time on screens these days, probably more than is good for us. How can we use our God-given talents and exercise our God-given bodies - before we lose our minds?
Registration is limited to 15 participants, and additional registrations will be placed on a waiting list. Once you sign up, you will receive a free Zoom meeting link and instructions to connect by PC and/or by phone with both audio and video options. The webinar is free, but donations are accepted and will be used to continue programs like this to build up the body of Christ.
