Zoo Emergency Operating Fund
As we pivot through this new world, we recognize our appeal to you has now changed dramatically. Even as our world began to change, the Zoo had hoped to remain open and continue to welcome guests as we reside in an outdoor park-like setting. The Zoo hoped to offer a respite from the world news allowing families to immerse themselves in nature and connecting them to the wild world. But that too changed.
Our promise to you is even though the landscape of the world has changed, we have not. And although we are not able to welcome you on-site, the Zoo is doing everything we can to stay connected to you and our community.
Our Panda cams will continue to run every day from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. Zoo staff is offering Distance Learning options for schools to use for online education and, for your enjoyment, our Animal Care Specialists are creating weekly vignettes highlighting our animal residents. With the support of a Zoo friend, we have created a virtual Zoo walk-through so anyone can come and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Zoo any day from the comfort of their home.
Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is so proud to be part of this community and so thankful for the ongoing support of our members and donors.
As a non-profit organization, we rely on ticket sales, Zoo visits, memberships, education program fees, donations, and meeting and rental revenue to operate. Being closed will have a significant impact on our overall operating budget. We ask you to please consider a donation to our emergency operating fund to assist us in caring for our animals and team members.
Your support is more critical now than ever.
P.S. Thank you for your support in this unchartered time.
