Urgent Fundraiser During COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place
Recover funds lost due to event cancellations to build Just Transition Map!
We’ve lost funding due to COVID-19 related event cancellations. We’re fundraising for a new project.
The Just Transition Mapping Project
We’re building a Just Transition Map - a map of community spaces, infrastructure, and place-based projects that are establishing viable alternatives to the extractive economy.
Well before the pandemic began we planned this new initiative. Now, while sheltered-in-place to prevent spread of the virus, we are able to focus on it more fully.
How Will the Map Be Used?
The Just Transition Map will connect people to physical spaces that are regenerating land and communities, including past Permaculture Action Day host sites and many projects beyond our existing partners. We’ll share open hours, ways to get involved, contact information, and information on physical infrastructure, including systems we’ve built and planted during past action days.
The map will highlight exemplary sites working at the intersections of food sovereignty, land access, mutual aid, and social & ecological justice. This mapping project makes readily available information and pathways that can otherwise be hard to establish, connecting thousands of people in direct relationship with the projects, organizations, and spaces in their communities building a just and regenerative world.
Permaculture Action Network is catalyzing the just transition by mobilizing hundreds of people at a time to exemplary sites around the country where communities are shaping their own land-based solutions to economic and ecological crises. We work in collaboration with community-led projects to provide direct material support that grows the infrastructure of solidarity economies and promotes ecological living. At the same time, we bring thousands of people into a larger movement - inspiring them through our artist partnerships at music & cultural events (our primary outreach mechanism), teaching them new skills & frameworks, and linking them up with local organizations in their own communities for ongoing work.
We need to raise funds immediately to recover from the financial costs of the shelter-in-place. However, we'd be honored to have you as a regular contributor. Change your contribution frequency from "one time" to monthly or quarterly if you'd like to be an ongoing supporter of our work.
