Nursing is a sacrificial job. A nurse is always putting the needs of others ahead of themselves while often putting their own health at risk. This has been the case this year with the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Nurses all over Georgia, as well as other health care workers, have been sacrificial in the giving of their time, their own health, and often their family in order to work and labor and minister to the physical needs of so many people. One such nurse, we will call her Amber, has faithfully fulfilled her role as a nurse. She was one of the first few people in Georgia to be diagnosed with the coronavirus. She contracted the virus because she was the nurse for a patient in the ICU who had not yet been diagnosed with COVID-19. By the time the patient's test results had come back, she, and possibly others on staff, had begun showing symptoms of the virus themselves. The hospital initially sent her home to self-quarantine for 14 days. It was during that quarantine time that her tests results came back to prove that she too had the virus. Her own family exposed to the virus. Her youngest was just a toddler. Her husband is a doctor who had been seeing patients himself. The ramifications of what it meant to have the virus is
insurmountable. Yet Amber was stedfast in her faith, endured the illness of the virus, and has since returned to work because the need for nurses is so great.
During this Generous Giving Campaign of 2020, we are committed to supporting the healthcare workers of Georgia by providing counseling and discipleship supports to them as an act of thanksgiving for their sacrificial work. 50% of all funds raised will be set aside for this purpose. We ask that you help us support those who are on the front lines of this battle by giving them counseling and discipleship supports so that their faith overcomes their fears.
