COVID-19 Emergency Relief
Protecting and supporting the most vulnerable Deaf Children in Zambia
The novel virus outbreak in China was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020 by the World Health Organization. Now known as the CoronaVirus, COVID-19, this global pandemic has changed every aspect of life for people around the world. Along with most of the world, Zambia has been put on lockdown to try to slow the spread of the disease and protect citizens. However, this scary and dangerous time is even more difficult for the Deaf community in Zambia.
GBCZ has partnered with Zambian Deaf Women and Youth to create a temporary shelter in place at Jennifer Memorial School for the Deaf in Kitwe. With our donations, 10 of the most vulnerable students will be able to have a safe place to sleep, and have 3 meals a day provided for them.
