Making an Impact in May 2020
May 2020 Newsletter
Well, it appears as if most of the “shelter in place” restrictions are soon to be removed! Not that is has affected the
Union Gospel Mission that much, we are still busy helping folks change their lives. If anything, the COVID-19
pandemic has made us even busier.
Not only are we working our own programs but we have added a number of extra services. Monday through Friday
we are providing “to go” lunch and supper to the community at large. In conjunction with the Hamilton County
Health Department, we have provided overnight staffing for an emergency quarantine shelter for the homeless. The
City of Chattanooga has asked us to assist with an emergency shelter for “at-risk” portions of our homeless
community. That’s about 770 additional hours committed to serving our community!
This means that God is allowing us to impact a greater number of people at a time of greater need! Of course none
of these opportunities would be possible without the financial support of folks just like you. Your partnership with
the Union Gospel Mission is affecting lives in positive ways. Would you consider a gift to help us continue
“Meeting Needs, Making Change, and Magnifying Christ”?
Serving Christ and the Community,
Rev. Jon Rector
