Based in San Francisco, Aura Fischbeck Dance creates performance events which investigate and communicate the bodies intelligence and reflect the complexity of the contemporary human experience. Their work seeks to examine the intersection of movement, language and culture as a bodily poetics.
Since 2008, Aura Fischbeck Dance has been creating and presenting original dance theater work in the San Francisco Bay area. And we are at it again! We are currently in production for our latest new work entitled DUSK, which will premiere at the Joe Goode Annex November 9-11, 2018.
In the same way that the creation of a work of art is often a collaboration with many people giving of themselves in service of one vision, funding artistic projects in this economic climate functions much in the same way. With the current state of arts funding being so limited, grassroots fundraising has become an indispensable component of the way creative projects are able to thrive.
This is where you come in! We have been able to meet about 50% of our production costs, but still have $4000 to go.
We need your help to make this project possible and to continue to sustain our work as a thriving independent San Francisco based dance company!
We are undergoing this fundraising effort to ensure that the participating artists get compensated for their time and energy and creative genius, as well as to offset the plethora of production costs such as rehearsal space rental, theater rental, publicity, and costumes, to name a few.
And an added bonus - every donation you make through this site is fully tax deductible.
Please consider being a part of our artistic collaboration by helping us to meet our fundraising goals! We would reach our goal if:
- 4 people gave $1,000
- 10 people gave $400
- 20 people gave $200
- 40 people gave $100
- 80 people gave $50
- 200 people gave $20
- 400 people gave $10
We hope you will consider making a donation to Aura Fischbeck Dance to support this and future projects. A little bit goes a long way, and every little bit counts.
Our sincere gratitude and appreciation,
Aura Fischbeck and the collaborating artists
About the work:
Created for 4 performers, DUSK considers the reality of the body as it exists in relative stated of of obscurity and visibility, ambiguity and transformation. Reconfiguring the Joe Goode Annex by exposing the floor to ceiling windows to let the light in, the dance, sound and real tie quality of the changing light of each day will coexist as an experience of transformation from dusk to dark. With performances by Arletta Anderson, Aura Fischbeck, Phoenicia Pettyjohn and Karla Quintero and featuring an original composition by Alex Lough, DUSK comes together at the intersection of dance, new music/technology and natural phenomena.
DUSK, a dance for the time when the light is fading
