Kate Mitchell & Dancers

A fiscally sponsored project of Dancers' Group

Kate Mitchell is a choreographer, dancer, collagist, designer of sculptural garments, and the author of "Fashioning Women."  Since founding Kate Mitchell & Dancers in 2003, she has interwoven dance, art and design to create projects with multiple meanings and expressions. Collaborating with other choreographers and artists, she reveals contradictions and incongruities between cultural expectations and personal experience. "If designer Jean Paul Gaultier and feminist leader Gloria Steinem had a lovechild — wrap your head around that one for a moment — she might have turned out like Kate Mitchell” (San Francisco Examiner).
