The Clearing
FOLX
SUNDAY, May 30 2-4p PT// 5-7p ET
We who identify as people of the African Diaspora are TIRED. We are tired of being sick and tired and we are holding so much psychological weight. Our bodies are responding to the constant awareness of feeling unsafe. This shows up as expression of grief like fatigue, an inability to focus, hypervigilance, outbursts of anger or tears, restlessness, nightmares, and the list goes on. These are not necessarily new feelings, but what is new is our inability to gather together in ways of our tradition that holds and heals our communal grief. In times of slavery it was illegal to bury our dead, so enslaved people would steal out into the clearing at night to be with each other in grief and ritual.
In honor of this tradition, free people we will hold a space for justice seekers, and those healing from the trauma of violence. This Clearing will offer expressions of song, healing, poetry, motion, ritual and community offerings.
By request of black womxn on the ground in Minneapolis MN, One Life Institute, Movement In Faith, Highlander Research and Education Center, TRACC 4 Movements, and Mystic Soul have partnered to bring you black healing practitioners, artists, mystics, and faith folx.
