"Sofranko's notion of contemporary classicism can fill an aesthetic need in this community."
-Allan Ulrich, The San Francisco Chronicle

SFDanceworks was founded in 2014 by James Sofranko, known as a soloist dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, as well as the co-founder of Dance For A Reason (DanceFAR).  SFDanceworks is dedicated to the past, present, and future of dance as an art form through high quality live performance, featuring the choreography of dance masters and current established artists, as well as emerging talent. SFDanceworks is a repertory company and strives to cultivate new artists and present commissioned work on a regular basis.

The first two home seasons of SFDanceworks were co-presented with the ODC Theater to sold out houses.  The programs included works by José Limón, Christopher Bruce, Alejandro Cerrudo, Penny Saunders, James Graham, James Sofranko, Danielle Rowe, Dana Genshaft, and Lar Lubovitch.

Season Three is scheduled for June 8-10, 2018, at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco.
