Spare Change for the Change Makers of Tomorrow
Mindful Littles Needs Your Support!
Dear Friends of Mindful Littles,
I have been staring at my screen trying to start this letter for what feels like an eternity. Frankly, the complex issues engulfing our country and world are overwhelming. It feels like writing a donations appeal is just a distraction (yes that’s what this is, for those of you who didn’t automatically know upon opening).
As I gave myself the usual pep talk about how lucky I am to work with a nonprofit committed to supporting future change makers, it hit me: I love my career BECAUSE I am actively making the world a better place, even when it feels hopeless. I believe we can build a better future, and Mindful Littles is doing just that.
Our programs combine the power of mindfulness with community action, enabling kids to consciously and compassionately choose a more positive future for themselves and the world — no matter what life brings them. This generation is facing unprecedented levels of depression, anxiety, and even suicide. Add to that today’s complex social and global issues and it is clear kids need our support now more than ever. The good news is, we know the Mindful Littles approach works!
After just one semester of participating in our classroom curriculum, 87% of 3rd grade students reported that they like to use two or more of the emotion regulation practices they learned with Mindful Littles. Additionally, seven out of eight teachers surveyed observed an increase in students using tools such as breath practices, emotion regulation, empathy and positive mindset. These tools help students both communicate their emotions and respond to situations calmly and courageously.
Iris Wu, a former youth leader, told us: “My time with Mindful Littles has solidified my commitment to youth development and empowerment, as I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the wonderfully innovative ideas that littles have for the improvement of their communities. There are few things more gratifying than watching and helping littles turn their creativity into meaningful action.”
Our children hold the future in their hands. Mindful Littles is committed to empowering this next generation of change makers, but we cannot continue without support from our community. Please make a donation today. Together, we can build a more compassionate future for all beings.
With hope and love,
Hannah Jacobs
