2020 was to have been the kick-off of the Climb for Cancer Foundation's nationwide climbing event, 50-50-1, but the pandemic had other ideas, so we pivoted to the Highpoint Challenge.
We're encouraging those who'd like to get outdoors this summer for a good cause to pick a highpoint near you--this could be your state's official highpoint, another nearby mountain, or even a hill--and climb and fundraise to support cancer patients and their families.
Cancer doesn't stop for COVID-19. Even in this terrible crisis, cancer patients must still get to treatment. Postponing life-saving chemotherapy and radiation is not an option. And for many who are suffering the economic fallout of the pandemic, the cost of getting to treatment can be devastating. The Harriet's Helping Hand Program provides such assistance to those who need it. $5 will buy a meal voucher. $20 will buy a gas card. And $50 can provide lodging assistance to cancer patients and their families who must travel long distances for treatment.
It is an inspiring opportunity to join with friends and family to help make a real impact in the ongoing battle to fight cancer and support those undergoing treatment.
