Join Kansas City Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program (KC SAPP) by Zoom on July 23, 2020 as we present: Working with Suicidal Client using Motivational Interviewing - Part 2
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centered counseling style that has shown effectiveness with client change and
specifically addresses ambivalence, which is a common experience of clients with suicidal ideations. This program will
review the fundamentals of MI and teach participants how to utilize MI strategies and skills with suicidal clients.
Additionally, you will learn the phases of MI-SI, which is a protocol developed to move clients from a desire to complete
suicide to safety planning in just one session.
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to...
1. Apply Motivational Interviewing processes (i.e. engaging, focusing, evoking, planning) with suicidal clients
2. Describe the three phases of the MI-SI protocol
