Add lyrical emotionality to your instrumental music through this master class exploring Gayaki Ang with world famous sitarist, Hidayat Khan. Gayaki Ang is the Hindustani technique of mimicking the voice to bring a rich and human tone to your instrument - the creation of which is credited to Ustad Vilayat Khan, Hidyat Khan’s father.
In this class, you will understand how to apply the practice of Gayaki Ang to your instrument. You will deepen your understanding of lyrics and understand how to channel the tone of the composition through your instrument.
7+ years of instrumental experience - students who consider themselves advanced

Experienced sitarists and any instrumentalist looking to add emotionality to their music.
This class is not limited to just Sitarists.
What you will get out of it:
An introduction to Gayaki Ang and exercises that give you techniques to help you better convey the emotion of the song through your instrument.
For each Nuance class we provide a few scholarship slots for those who cannot afford to take the class at the full rate. These are the "Pay what you can" registration tickets. We ask that if you are able to pay the full amount, please do, as it will allow those who have less to take the class at the reduced rate. Additionally if you are able to donate above the full rate through the Donate to Pay What You Can option before checkout, it will enable us to open up more scholarship slots for the class. Fifty percent of what you pay goes to the artist.
