Annual Zakaat Fund
In 2011 we visited Jam Chakro village, which is Karachi's largest landfill but also home to hundreds of families. Immediately we knew the only thing that could move these families beyond living in such conditions would be an education. These children had never opened a book or written on a piece of paper. In 2012 we started building a facility from the ground up with our partners Idara Al Khair Welfare Society. On opening day we had 68 children in attendance and that number continues to grow. Today, we have over 1200 students enrolled.
Though we are not a religious organization we do collect and distribute zakaat as per guidelines. Our zakaat fund benefits our DREAMS for Kachra Kundi School Campus in Karachi, Pakistan.
Zakaat funds cover the below:
- Teacher salaries
- General and emergency healthcare for students
- On site improvement and expansion projects
- Transportation, electricity, fuel
- Clean water pump and filtration
- CounselingÂ
