
THE STELLA MARIS FLIPPER FRENZY!



RACE INFORMATION:
When:
This year’s Flipper Frenzy is set to 10/10/2020!
Participants can complete their race up to 1 week prior to October 10th or 1 week after, unless registered for the Refuge to Refuge which can be completed from October 1-31.
Where:
Everywhere!
Virtual races can be completed anywhere you are. We encourage you to run in a refuge near you.
The Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge is a recommendation for Brevard County Residents.
Why:
Your registration cost is used to directly support sea turtle research and conservation efforts and all proceeds from this event will be used for sea turtle hatchling research. All registered participants will receive a wooden medal, and some seriously unique turtle race charms!
What:
There are 6 options for this virtual race:
- Coasting Clutch Walk or Roll 5K: Complete 1 km per day over a 1 week period. This race is for anyone who is on wheels and all ages with varying physical abilities. Completion times may be submitted for official results to be posted.
- Turtle Trek 5K: This is a great option for families and kids!
- The Hatchling Hustle 7 Miler: Complete all 7 miles in one long run or 1 mile per day in 7 days. Completion times may be submitted for official results to be posted. Time submissions should include mile tracker details.
- Refuge to Refuge 115 Miler: Complete these miles as fast as you can in the 4-week window. Completion times may be submitted for official results to be posted.
- Turtle Trio: #2, #3 & #4 to earn all three turtle charms! Miles for 5K, 7M, 115M & Relay count toward Trio.
- Rapid Riptide Relay: Gather a team of 4 and run the Refuge to Refuge (~28.75 miles/each runner in time frame)! Each runner will receive a matching charm. Team must designate a team captain. The captain registers the team and is the main point of contact, check that email captain!
* Miles for 5K, 7M, 115M and Relay count toward Trio. Get ready to earn all 4 charms!!
RULES & REGULATIONS:
- All participants are partaking in this race at their own risk.
- Choose a safe running course, and socially distance according to the current regulations in your area.
- Registration is non-refundable.
- Race bibs and details will be emailed prior to event date.
- Upon completion of the event, all registered participants will receive their completed virtual race packet, including medal and swag. Refuge to refuge participants will receive an additional T-shirt, and digital sea turtle hatchling photo.
- A current mailing address for completion packet must be supplied during registration. No PO Boxes.
- HAVE FUN! Think about each turtle you are running for, 1 in 1k survives!
