We Are The Village
At House of Hope, we talk a lot about the famous African proverb, that everyone knows, “It takes a village to raise a child”. Since 1998, House of Hope has been honored to be part of the village for close to 250 young women and their families as they overcome major obstacles like sexual assault, crippling depression, broken relationships, and much more. Each year, I so look forward to gathering at our events and celebrating the incredible things God is doing at House of Hope. In lieu of gathering, from now until the end of the year, we are going to be sharing stories from our village and hearing about how God is moving and healing at House of Hope. Let's start with Holly!
"I lived at House of Hope for a little over a year and it taught me so much more than just life skills. Looking back it taught me to be grateful for my parents as well as the people who have watched me grow up from an infant to now. I had so many struggles freshman year of high school, I was hanging out with the wrong crowd and making some very risky and questionable choices for a teenager. I experimented with recreational drugs and fell under the peer pressure of so many things at such a young age. I think to myself a lot of the time about some of the poor situations I put myself in and just thank God for parents who saw me struggling and went out of their way to protect me and get me the help I needed to become the young woman I am today. I know that there are so many awful things that could have happened, aside from some of the tragic things that did take place, but I don’t want to think about what might have or could have happened if I didn’t get the help I needed. I stand here today happy, thankful, and on a solid foundation. I am proud of the work I have done and grateful for the help from so many who have cheered me on."
The goal is to keep stories like Holly's coming. To do this we need our village to raise at least $100,000 by the end of the year. I am thrilled to share that God has shown up in an exciting way and we are halfway there with a $50,000 matching grant, graciously donated by 2 anonymous donors. Will you be a part of this incredible opportunity?
Double your impact, dollar for dollar! Even if your gift doesn’t qualify for the match it is still crucial and needed to make sure that the girls have everything they need as they heal and grow. Thank you for being a part of the village!
