The CASA - Voices for Children Trauma informed tutoring program is a non-profit program aimed at providing academic assistance to abused and neglected children in Benton County.
When a child enters the foster care system, their entire world is turned upside down. They've had to leave behind everything familiar to them - their parents, their home, their school, and possibly even their brothers and sisters. The trauma endured by children going through the court system can have lasting, negative effects on their mental and physical health. Lower academic achievement is one of the many implications of entering foster care. A trauma informed tutor is someone who will be there for the child in a way that no one else can. They are tirelessly working behind the scenes and guiding these children through the school year to ensure that each child's academic needs remain a priority.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, CASA-VFC is providing academic tutoring to children in care at no cost. If you are interested in becoming an academic tutor, please visit the link below.
