The Epidemic of Violence How Did We Get Here?
The imagery of grief is one of which we have
seen too often this year here at The AdHoc Group Against Crime. The sight of tears rolling from a young
father's eyes, as the events of his son's last moments of life replay in his
mind, wishing there was something he could have done differently. The signs of
restlessness painted onto the face of a missing child’s mother, hoping for the
best, yet scared for the worst. The weak voice of a teen survivor of gun
violence, trying to recount the memories of the events which lead up to lying
wounded in a hospital bed. This year
Kansas City has reached a historic level of violence, and with just 3 months
left in the year, we can’t help but wonder...How did we get here?
On October 20, 2020, we will be hosting our first Virtual Annual Fundraiser entitled “The Epidemic of Violence: How Did We Get Here.” We have invited well-known author, journalist, and activist Ta-Nehisi Coates to unpack the historical and systemic factors of violence. For years, we have used our annual fundraising gala to assist us in providing resources to our community. Unfortunately, just as we began preparing for our annual fundraising gala, the pandemic placed us in a difficult position. Despite any challenges we may face, we continue to support and serve our community, and we invite you to join us for this event and to partner with AdHoc by serving as a sponsor. Below you will find the four levels of sponsorship to select: Activist $10,000 Advocate $5,000, Defender $2,500, Ambassador $1,000, and, Hero $500
