A Devised Piece
A new devised piece by Visionbox, directed by Jennifer McCray Rincon
In this 5 week sequence actors will work on a new performance piece to be produced in Spring of 2021. The development process will emulate the work of companies like Tectonic Theatre Project, who created and produced The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman (first at the DCPA in 2000). Actors, writers and directors are encouraged to take this class.
We will begin with a research and writing phase during which students will look at films, books, interviews, journals, magazines etc to research. The approach can be from the comic and satiric to the dramatic. As material is created by the members of the group it will also be worked on as text for actors.
Visionbox opened the company in 2010-11 with a similar kind of production: The Othello Project. In this piece the company looked at Domestic Violence and PTSD in the military through the lens of Shakepeare's play.
Anyone interested in participating please send headshot, bio and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an interview.
After 6 weeks of development a first draft will be presented in the Denver Arts Week in an online performance November 6, 7, and 8th. In 2021 the piece will have its first production at McNIchols Civic Center.
