Thanks so much for helping the Wauja weather the Covid storm last year. With your help, they did not lose one person in any of their villages. We used the moniesraised last year to buy much-needed medical supplies, and the Wauja were very grateful.
Today, I would like to run another fundraiser for the Wauja. This time, however, I hope to use the money to continue the work that Emi and I have been doing for over three decades to help the Wauja preserve their language and culture. We currently are using grant monies to pay young Wauja a nominal fee to transcribe and then translate the videotaped Wauja language narratives of their elders, which has the doubly positive effect of getting the young people to improve their Wauja while also creating learning tools that can be used in Wauja schools and the planned Wauja Online Museum.
