Join us in December to help raise $2,000 during our Founders & Friends Winter Fund Drive! 


Our Founders & Friends Matching Fund Drive kicks off on Giving Tuesday, and runs through the end of December! Let's take full advantage of the generosity of these matching fund contributors to reach our $2,000 goal total! With our matching fund donors contributing $1,000 in matching funds, and donors like you contributing here as well as the folks mailing in their year-end support, we are over halfway there! We only need $450 to reach our goal!
As a grassroots, volunteer-led organization, AKA depends on memberships and donations to fund and sustain our year-round programming, tech expenses, and other operational costs. The benefit of this organizational model is we remain independent from outside influences on our messaging, programming, and service delivery options, boldly bringing you strong voices and dynamic content to all of our events. The downside - during economic downturns, memberships and charitable contributions can be the first thing to slow or stop, as is the case with the global pandemic. This leaves AKA in a perilous position.
Our hope is that you will step-up and show your support during this time as you always have in the past. For nearly 30 years, AKA members and friends have supported AKA and our mission of education and support. Our commitment to "keeping it real" in conversations about the impacts of adoption is what makes the difference in furthering truth and transparency in our community and promoting a path to healing for our program attendees. Sharon’s Story: AKA's Impact on My Adoption Journey



"First, I have to say, I found AKA by some universal, small world sort of happenstance! I couldn’t have met the volunteers at AKA had I not shared my story (at that time I didn’t know it was just the beginning). AKA directed me toward the tools I would need to start writing the next chapters of my life. Marci invited me to become a part of AKA and shared her story. In the following weeks she invited me to the AKA conference. Here I had the opportunity, for the first time in my life, to hear adoptees speak out in an open, welcoming forum. I felt like I got to mingle with a family I had never known. And, three days after the conference, I got to do it again. I met my birth Mom and her two children, my half sister and brother for the very first time! I can never really express how thankful I am for AKA and their kind ways and insights. They promise to do their very best as a non-profit organization to support every part of the adoption triangle. “Grateful” doesn’t begin to express how I feel.
