As COVID-19 continues to impact our households and workplace, Utah Pet Partners is doing everything possible to sustain daily operations and provide services to our community. And with much of the world on paws, our mission never stops.
Throughout the year Utah Pet Partners touches the lives of tens of thousands. Our trained animal-handler teams work with professionals to enhance the traditional interventions used in medical, psychiatric, rehabilitation, elder care, homeless service, and special education facilities. What makes animal assisted therapy unique is that animals, not humans, do the real work. Now, more than ever, our community needs them, and we need you.
Utah Pet Partners provides animal assisted therapy to more than 50,000 individuals annually. Those receiving Utah Pet Partners services include children and adults of all ages, veterans, people with physical, intellectual or learning disabilities, individuals with illness and injury, as well as those of us who are disadvantaged and abused. Our services are provided in hospitals and other healthcare facilities, schools, residential treatment facilities, assisted living centers, and more. However, with the populations we serve at high-risk for COVID-19, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend most in-persona Utah Pet Partners' events and activities, and to severely limit the social interactions of our staff, volunteers and therapy-animals as a response to this new health crisis. In response, we are providing virtual services whenever in-person visits are not possible. Please visit our website for more information and to arrange a virtual visit!
