Join Go Fund Bean for #GivingTuesday to Raise $5000 to Sponsor Grants for 10 Hourly Coffee Workers
You might know us as the tip jar promoters. Go Fund Bean was founded in March 2020 in response to COVID-19. We began as a place to aggregate all the virtual tip jars that were going up to help baristas stay financially secure in the wake of all the lay-offs and closures that the pandemic caused. And, as sometimes happens, things grew from there.
Since our founding, we have given $23,000 in grants to hourly coffee professionals who are hurting financially due to COVID-19.
In November, we began offering free classes to all coffee professionals looking to level up in all areas of their lives.
We are providing free 3-month subscriptions to Talkspace for sixteen hourly coffee professionals.
We need your help to keep supporting hourly coffee workers. Donations we receive for Giving Tuesday will help us continue giving grants as the COVID economic crisis surges on.
How Our Grants Helped Keep Sydney Safe During COVID
Sydney was one of over 175 hourly coffee professionals who applied for our first round of grants. In their application, they wrote:
I am a 24yo white trans non-binary person, I have been a barista for 6 years and although O have my mother helping me with expenses, she is not in any position to make this a sustainable effort. I’m moving into an apartment that has room for me to practice art to attempt making an income but I've never sold my art before and the apartment is more expensive. Covid has been a detrimental weight in my preexisting mental illness as well as my asthma. I’ve had covid once and other sicknesses since December due to weakened immune system. My job does not plan on reopening until covid isn’t around anymore and I’m scared that unemployment will get cancelled.
Thanks to generous donations from many corners of the coffee industry, we were able to give Sydney a $250 grant, which they put toward rent. It helped them keep themselves and their cats warm for another month while they worked hard to put their life back together after COVID closed their cafe.
