This #GivingTuesday, join us as we continue to raise awareness about Inclusion in the workplace
Feeling Connected is Important to Everyone and Here's Why...
After graduating high school, many young adults secure competitive employment, but for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, this is not something that is easily achieved. The reality is Stark County lacks a variety of pre-vocational training programs for people with disabilities. As a result, many try out different secluded day programs and finally settle on one that provides social integration. The majority of the folks we will be serving at Whole Latte Love Cafe' have never experienced the opportunity to work in the community. When Taylor was asked what she really wanted to do, she responded, "I just want to work with my friends and help people".
Whole Latte Love Cafe is prepared to address this problem by creating transferable customer service jobs in an integrated environment. Let Taylor, Caroline, Heather, Bobby, Adam and all the others know they belong in the community. By donating today, you are contributing to the necessary operating funds needed to start our training program in 2021. Our person-centered approach to training will offer a meaningful career through four paid entry level positions that a coffee shop has to offer. Our primary focus is addressing job-related expectations, self-determination and increasing independence toward individual and community-based needs. Each trainee will be empowered to develop their own employment-related goals, while receiving direct supervision in the café, the kitchen and/or in the community through volunteer opportunities and career explorations.
