Urban Gardening, A Youth Urban Revolution
Tesfazghi, Youth Community Garden Project Leader is working with Heaven and Ethan to prepare a sample of soil for testing. They spent the last several summers with Good Journey creating art, learning new technology, addressing social justice issues, building leadership skills, serving the community and YES, learning about the importance of gardening. These last two summers, Good Journey Youth learned about Food Apartheid, Food Justice, and the importance of growing food in our community from urban farmer and revolutionary, Tosha Phonix. They are taking all they have learned from many community elder growers and getting their Youth Community Garden ready to grow vegetables, fruits, herbs, trees and native plants, creating an urban revolution of abundance and beauty.
Project Leaders collectively decided that garden fencing, wildflowers, and construction of beds are our first priorities. Help us raise the money needed to accomplish our fall and winter priorities, so that we are ready for spring. #letsgetreadytogrow
