The holidays are just around the corner.

For many of us, it’s a time to celebrate around the table with food, family, and friends.

Yet for the families, we serve at One Life Food Pantry, the holidays bring added stress because they struggle to provide daily food essentials to their family -- let alone a special holiday meal.

I recently met Sharon, a mother of two small children. She told me that last year, after a series of unexpected and tragic events, she needed help feeding her family. Initially, she felt too embarrassed and ashamed to ask anyone for help. She had always taken pride in her ability to take care of herself, but due to rising housing costs and other necessary expenditures, suddenly there wasn’t enough left to provide a holiday meal for her family.

Sharon was relieved and filled with hope to hear of our holiday meal box program and our shopping style food pantry. We started One Life Food Pantry many years ago to be a safety net to families just like Sharon’s. It’s our goal to bring love, hope, a smiling face, a listening ear, and dignity in the face of hunger to all we serve.
