Give a Gift, Give a Memory
I can't tell you the number of stories I have heard about our theater. I have heard about the pride parents feel when they first see their children perform on "a big stage." I have heard about the numerous movie nights that would be attended in the 1970s and 1980s when the theater was mainly used as movie house. I learned about the love stories - the people who met at the theater and now are watching their kids perform in the historic Orpheum Theater.
I am not only moved, but humbled by these memories. How lucky are we to have a historic building, an original Orpheum Theater, right in our uptown. How lucky are we to make new memories with the next generation. How lucky are we to have supporters like you that through various challenges, help keep our doors open.
Giving Tuesday was created as a tool to help small non profit organizations, like the Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center, talk about our cause. It's an opportunity for our community to continue to learn about our mission, to become engaged and to enter our community. The last part is what makes this particular organization so special; community. One of our Board members recently told me that she has always thought that the most important part of the word "community" is "unity." She is right.
So, today, on Giving Tuesday, we ask as a community that we unite, we come together, and we support a piece of town that really shapes the blueprint of our community. We ask that we unite to support our organization that through the pandemic has continued to offer virtual programming and uplifting messages to our families. We ask that we unite to make sure that the Orpheum Theater and the Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center continues to be a piece of the history of Foxborough, for years and years to come.
