Rev. Dr. Linda Smith Hope Fund
This fund is established in honor of Rev. Dr. Linda Smith's inspiration, her mother Willie Mae Young, and in thanksgiving for Rev. Dr. Smith's work on behalf of those who are without housing. Rev. Dr. Smith has helped thousands of people find a safe place when they needed it most, walking lovingly with so many as they have worked towards their housing goals. Rev. Dr. Smith has worked diligently to help our community raise its consciousness around the factors that cause homelessness and that prevent people from finding permanent housing.
At Rev. Dr. Smith's request, funds allocated to the Rev. Dr. Linda Smith Hope Fund will be used by the Center of Hope to pay for move-in costs, deposits and other costs associated with securing permanent housing for families who are homeless. Funds will also be used to help people who are close to homelessness and those for whom a one-time payment will allow them to keep their housing.
Willie Mae Young raised 11 children. She
was an amazing supporter to families in the Seattle area taking care of their
children so that their parents could work and make a living. Ms. Young would feed them, teach them, and care for them. Supporting families and single
mothers was the joy of her life and she helped over 200 young people and their parents over the years.
Dr. Smith writes that her mom's spirit and teaching inspire and propel her own work. We are so very grateful to them both.
If you would like to support this fund, please give here.
Thank You!
