Elizabeth O'Connor Campaign

Friends,
No one expects to receive a pancreatic cancer diagnosis at just 31 years of age, and no one expects to hear that they may have just mere months to live when they feel as if they’ve barely begun living. Statistically speaking, the average age when someone receives such a diagnosis is 70, and just one out of four patients who receive a Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis survive a full year afterward.
I’m honored to report that, as of November, 2020, I’m a 10-year survivor of the disease doctors told me would end my life in a matter of months. It’s been far from easy, but I wouldn’t be here today at all had it not been for doctors who were willing to push the envelope and try new treatments that went beyond those broadly available to patients.
The Seena Magowitz Foundation generates funding for pancreatic cancer research and innovative clinical trials that create new treatment opportunities for patients who, like me, have so few available to them. Funds generated by the foundation help finance the work of Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, the Physician-in-Chief at the Translational Genomics Research Institute in Phoenix, and the clinical trials he oversees the HonorHealth Research Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most under-researched, under-funded and undetected forms of the disease with the worst survival rate of all cancers. But Dr. Von Hoff, his team and the Seena Magowitz Foundation are working to change that. In doing so, they’re helping extend lifespans and enhance quality of life for patients like me, giving us more of what we value above all else: time.
Please consider making a donation and helping me reach my goal of $1,000 for the Seena Magowitz Foundation. Donations of any size are sincerely appreciated.
Best,
Elizabeth
