Tight Lipped Fundraiser
Support our work and receive a copy of our zine!
Tight Lipped is excited to announce our very first fundraising effort, centered around our zine, Opening Up. The printed zine (DIY booklet) includes art, poetry, and prose compiled from more than fifty contributors who submitted their stories about living with chronic vulvovaginal and pelvic pain.
Divided into four sections--secrets, desire, treatment, and healing--Opening Up will make you laugh, cry, and rage. You’ll find pieces about navigating sex and intimacy, medical gaslighting, and how these conditions profoundly influence our relationships to our bodies, identities, and sexualities.
Chronic vulvovaginal and pelvic pain affects 1 in 4 people with vaginas, but is under-researched, under-funded, and generally misunderstood by the healthcare system. We started Tight Lipped for our 18-year-old selves, alone and scared in the doctor’s office, feeling like the only ones in the world with this secret pain, spending years searching for a diagnosis and effective, affordable treatment.
Since launching in 2019, Tight Lipped has reached over 3,000 people from 58 countries around the world through our podcast episodes, workshops, and online programming. By creating opportunities for people to talk openly and share their experiences--many for the first time--we’ve built a powerful community of people who understand that they’re not alone.
Although our impact is broad, our resources are limited. Our small (but mighty!) volunteer-led team started Tight Lipped as a podcast and storytelling initiative, but now we are ready to develop and launch the organizing and advocacy side of our work. Your donation will support our capacity-building efforts, including our leadership development, grant writing, professional development, and strategic planning.
With every donation of $20 and above, you’ll receive a physical copy of Opening Up. You will be helping us build an organization that will take collective action to create a world where all people with these conditions are believed, diagnosed, and treated.
We want our zine to be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to donate. If a $20 donation is cost-prohibitive, please donate an amount you are able and we'll send you a copy of the zine. If you are able to give more than $20, your donation will both subsidize the cost of the zine for other members of our community and help us build our organization.
At this time we are not able to send copies of the zine to mailing addresses outside of the United States. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
