Please join us in promoting the WAVES Study,

Ways to Avoid Various Elements of Susceptibility to Perinatal Group B Strep Disease

Group B Strep International is conducting a survey of mothers worldwide (with and without a baby infected by group B strep) to help identify the gaps in care and communication surrounding group B strep (GBS) disease in babies. GBS is a leading cause of meningitis and sepsis in babies worldwide and can harm babies during pregnancy through several months of age.

For the results of this study to be relevant, we need a large number of mothers whose babies were likely conceived on or after January 1, 2003 to tell us about 1) their most recent pregnancy and birth experience if they did not have a baby infected by GBS or if unsure if GBS harmed their baby, or 2) their baby who was infected by GBS as well as any other babies in the same pregnancy, any subsequent babies who were infected by GBS, and/or the most recent of any previous babies likely conceived on or after January 1, 2003.

We plan to have the results published to help guide future provider/parent communication and identify areas needing further research.

Here's how you can help:

  1. Take the survey at gbs-intl.org/waves if you are a mother whose baby was likely conceived on or after January 1, 2003.
  2. Support this study by donating so that we can further our reach to potential survey participants through Facebook ads,  etc. Your name and tribute line to your baby will be recognized on the completion page of the survey. (Please, no corporate donations to this campaign so that the survey isn't perceived as being influenced by commercial interests.)
  3. Share the survey link gbs-intl.org/waves and our WAVES posts through your social media!

Help us wave goodbye to group B strep disease in babies!
