Sponsorship funds will be used over the 8-week program period, for the cost of essential program supplies needed to deliver the weekly lessons. This includes printed class workbooks, notebooks for writing, and writing supplies/utensils for participating youth.  Previously, students received lessons using printed handouts and PowerPoint presentations. However, with the addition of printed workbooks, students will have a greater chance of absorbing the information taught if they can have all of the lessons in one combined book. This way they are less likely to lose lesson handouts and more likely to reflect on lessons learned. Also, the funds will help to pay for participants' meals during the after-school program,  for 15 mentees and 8 volunteers during all 8 weeks of the program. It is important that participants can eat during after-school activities in order to remain focused during activities. Also, at least two field trips will occur during the program grant year. Visits to the Dr. Phillips Center or the Orlando Art Museum will allow mentees to step outside of their neighborhoods, see art, and interact with individuals who have used their voices to shape their community and world.

Lastly, funds will help to pay for expenses related to the mentees' stage production or showcase. The showcase will take place at the end of the program as a culmination of the mentees' growth as public speakers. Part of the funding will go toward the cost of event marketing material and signage and which will be used at the Youth Showcase event. These materials will help to bring the showcase to life and promote Route 7 Orlando as an organization at the event.

Students will perform an original play based on an in-depth look at each student's perspective, incite, and storytelling. The showcase is a critical element of the program, as it allows for the students to not only display their growth and talents but be received by a supportive audience of their peers, family, and community.
