Fat Pocketbook mussel (Potamilus capax) is an endangered species in Missouri. These mussels inhabit large rivers
and prefer silt, mud and sand, or sticky mud substrates. Mussels are filter
feeders that pump water through their siphons to collect
food particles from the water.
