The Buds Newborn Class is our foundational, 4 week, Flock-forming Class for the first trimester of new parenthood. *As it is one of our most popular classes we recommend registering several months before your estimated due date based on the class that is one to three weeks after your due date.*
Until a new baby arrives, people usually underestimate the vulnerability of new and early parenthood. Birth Roots can help you move from self-doubt to self-trust, gaining confidence and community as you meet other new parents in the very same phase you are in, have the opportunity to ask important questions, learn new skills, and gain perspective. This honest and intimate parent-baby class is designed to support new families during a phase that is disorienting and raw because newborns need so much and parents are getting so little sleep and inadequate support.
Topics: Each class addresses the needs of the participants and usually range from the practical - such as sleep strategies, feeding solutions, baby and parent development - to the more thoughtful - like understanding your birth and early parenting experience, observing how your relationships with friends and family have changed, and building a filter for all of the information and advice that comes your way as a new parent.
Class Flow: Classes consist of a thoughtfully designed check in with community building prompts followed by resource sharing and skill building based on the emerging themes of the day. We encourage you to linger after class, if you are able, for the "after party" conversations.
$75 For One Parent + Baby. This is a six (6) hour class series held over four weeks. Can be taken as part of the BRIDGE PACKAGE bundle. Scholarships are available upon request.
Partners: For in-person postnatal classes, we are currently not able to allow more than one parent per registration to attend due to our decision to limit class size as one of our public health precautions during the pandemic. If both parents wish to attend, we ask that you purchase two registrations.
Beginning in 2022, this class will primarily be held in person and require masks and proof of vaccination. If you prefer or require a virtual class, please register for the Waitlist option and indicate your need for an online class when prompted.
