Drop Spindle and Wheel Spinning

Thursdays: March 7, 14, 21, 28 | 6–9pm

Begin your spinning journey using a drop spindle. This portable tool will allow you to understand the basics of spinning yarn from wool. This course will begin with fiber preparation as this is the number one way to ensure you have a successful start at spinning. In week 3, participants will move to the spinning wheel. Starting with learning to treadle, you will become comfortable with the rhythm and pace of the spinning wheel. Participants are welcome to bring their own wheel, or try a variety of wheels at Praxis from one treadle to two treadle to compact travel wheels. The course will conclude with immersion dyeing yarn and plying. The end result will be unique skeins ready for any fiber project. Participants in any 4 week course receive access to Praxis during our open studio hours Wednesday and Sunday from 12-4pm.
