Half-day Retreat, in-person/hybrid at IWM in Eastworks; vaccination and masks required (N95/KN95 preferred)
Cultivating a suitable home for the heart
with Chas DiCapua
Sunday, April 15, 2023; 9:00am-1:00pm
This is an in-person/hybrid offering.
Description: The human heart has the capacity to reflect on itself and discern whether what it is connecting with is wholesome or unwholesome, and then respond accordingly. But to manifest this capacity, we must give it a proper home and feed it nourishing "food". We will explore what a proper home and what proper nourishment for the heart is and isn't. We'll then use sitting and walking meditation to then cultivate this home and offer it nourishing food. Suitable for beginning and ongoing Dharma students.
Suggested donation: $15-30 registration + teacher donation (we encourage you to consider giving teacher dana equal to or greater than what you gave for registration)*
IN-PERSON LOCATION: IWM at Eastworks; 116 Pleasant St, Suite 242, Easthampton, MA
See COVID protocols below.
Chairs and cushions available.
Please bring your own covered water bottle.
Chas DiCapua has been practicing Buddhist meditation for almost 30 years. He has trained with Burmese meditation masters, western monastics of the Thai Forest tradition and senior western vipassana teachers. He has spent over two years in silent, intensive retreat.
Chas has served as IMS’s Resident Teacher at IMS since 2003. Chas is a graduate of the four year joint Insight Meditation Society / Spirit Rock Teacher Training Program. He teaches retreats at IMS and at various centers and sanghas throughout the country.
As a way to address the wide spread suffering that is endemic in many partnered relationships, Chas explores how the dharma can be practiced in relationship, including how the masculine and feminine energies manifest in relationship, in spiritual practice, and in the world.
For information about Chas’s mini-retreats and Monday night classes at IMS, visit their Local Meditation Class page.
IWM Covid Protocols:

• Please note: the teacher, Chas DiCapua, will be offered the option to take a COVID test and remove his mask if he'd like to do so.
• If you have been traveling, have any new symptoms, or think you may have been exposed to COVID, we ask that you take an antigen test before attending. Please don't come if you test positive for COVID or think you may have COVID.

*In keeping with the Buddhist tradition of dana (generosity), the suggested registration amounts for our classes and retreats do not include any payment for the teacher. The teachers are paid entirely out of the students' generosity. Please consider giving a donation to the teacher in order to support their ability to continue to share the dharma. We encourage you to consider teacher dana equal to or greater than the amount you gave for registration. You may give a donation at the time of registration and/or give later donations through our teacher dana link or in-person at the course/retreat. Everyone is welcome to all of our offerings regardless of ability to donate.
You can give online, in-person, or send checks to Insight Western Mass, 116 Pleasant Street, Suite 242, Easthampton, MA 01027. FYI: we check for mail once per week.
