Moon Day Chanting and Precepts
facilitated by Doug Kremm (Sangha Member)
Sunday, February 25, 2024; 5:45-6:45pm ET
In-person/hybrid at IWM
If you aren't able to register in advance, please feel free just to come.
The Buddha taught that sila (virtue) is a fundamental part of the path to liberation. Join us for a moon day gathering as we take some time to check in with this aspect of the path. We’ll divide the time between meditating, chanting, and taking the five precepts. We’ll also have some structured time for silent reflection and intention setting. All are welcome; instruction around chanting and precepts will be provided.
We operate entirely on the sangha's acts of generosity. If you'd like to give dana for this offering, you'll have a chance to do so further in the registration process. You can give online or send checks to Insight Western Mass, 116 Pleasant Street, Suite 242, Easthampton, MA 01027.
IN-PERSON LOCATION: IWM at Eastworks; 116 Pleasant St, Suite 242, Easthampton, MA

Please bring your own covered water bottle.
• Masks optional.
• If you have COVID concerns (new symptoms or think you've been exposed), please stay home and join us via Zoom.
• Field Control Trio Plus portable air purifier will be running (H13 HEPA with an ultraviolet light component).
Doug discovered meditation in 2012 while pursuing a PhD in philosophy. At the time he was looking for a way to explore and heal long-standing symptoms of depression; it worked, and what began as a short daily sit gradually blossomed into a spiritual practice that has completely transformed his life. His most influential dharma teachers have been in the Thai Forest Tradition, and he draws a lot of inspiration from the early Buddhist texts. Doug is immensely grateful for all the ways that the path has deepened and enriched his life, and he finds great joy in sharing that path with others. At IWM he volunteers as a host/greeter and helps to facilitate the Moon Day Chanting offerings. Outside of IWM, he teaches philosophy at Deerfield Academy and is a father, a husband, and a lover of being in the woods.
