Lyrik’s Institution Presents: IBUILD
At Lyrik’s Institution, we are dedicated to creating transformative pathways for at-risk youth and young adults through our innovative and comprehensive programs. Our mission is to address the unique challenges faced by Tier 2, 3, and 4 young adults, ages 13 to 25, who are disproportionately at risk for committing and falling victim to violent crime in Kansas City, Missouri.
Our Approach
Holistic Support and Cognitive Behavioral Modification (CBM): We understand that addressing the complex needs of at-risk youth requires a holistic approach. Our evidence-based Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) framework categorizes youth into Tiers, allowing us to tailor interventions effectively. In addition to the standard three tiers, Lyrik’s Institution has identified a fourth tier for those actively involved in violence or at risk of violence.
iBuild Cohort Cultural Intervention Program:
Our flagship program, the iBuild Cohort Cultural Intervention, is an extension of our successful mentoring, community service, and violence interventions. This 24-week program, comprising 58 sessions, offers a unique peer support model to youth traumatized by adverse living conditions. The program includes five Cognitive Behavior Modification (CBM)-based interventions, each strategically designed to address criminality and violent behavior.
Cultural Design:
Shapes participants' realities, emphasizing tools like vulnerability and accountability.
Thinking About Your Thinking:
Applies self-talk strategies, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
Re-Work/Getting Out of Your Box:
Guides participants to step out of their comfort zones.
Career Pyramid:
Identifies career pathways, emphasizing passion over financial gain.
The Ripple Effect:
Explores how individual choices impact the community and foster civic engagement.
Case Management and Care Coordination:
Recognizing that effective case management goes beyond connecting to resources, we integrate genuine relationships and coaching into our services. Our Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) and Therapists conduct initial assessments, providing evidence-based therapy to address mental health needs. Concurrently, our Culture Coaches offer ongoing case management/care coordination, ensuring a comprehensive approach to social, emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
Our Impact
Program Goals:
Enrollment Target: We aim to provide case management/care coordination to 20 at-risk youth/young adults.
Household Reach: By serving 50 participants, we anticipate reaching up to 100 households, recognizing the diverse family structures of our youth.
We are committed to measurable outcomes, with a focus on increasing participants' understanding of community and social norms, enhancing awareness of school or community climate, and fostering personal and relationship development. Additionally, we aim for 90% of program completers to gain knowledge and skills in emotional intelligence, financial management, critical thinking, business management, corporate operations, and leadership.
