Walking tour registration
Please join us on Saturday, October 28 from 10 am-12 pm for a special fundraising walking tour of North Manhattan with Sidney Horenstein, Geologist and Environmental Educator Emeritus at the American Museum of Natural History, author and Natural History Consultant for the Bronx County Historical Society. Your entire ticket price will benefit community programming at the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum, a National Historic Landmark and Manhattan’s last farmhouse.
On the tour we’ll visit points of historic interest in the neighborhood: the site of a rare Manhattan mastodon fossil find, the place where archaeologists excavated remains of a Lenape village, the location of a Revolutionary War encampment, early farm dwellings, bedrock exposures from road grading, and the neighborhood’s first apartment building.
That, and more. If you’ve never taken one of Sidney Horenstein’s well-known walking tours, they are highly recommended. Afterward, the ca. 1784 Farmhouse Museum will be open to visit.
