Learn how to create the illusion of depth and color with only black & white charcoal on toned paper.

Helen taught this drawing technique in the Drawing Study Group and in this Dabbler will give you hands-on help in creating a beautiful animal portrait. There's nothing new about drawing with black & white charcoal on toned paper, but there are some secrets to doing with maximum impact and control. Join us as we explore this traditional technique with a new twist.

Supplies:

A piece of medium-value tan paper, preferably Stonehenge Legion in the color "Kraft," approximately 11 x 14. A smaller size makes it harder to draw details and larger will mean you won't have time to finish your drawing. Stonehenge paper comes in sheets, rolls, and pads. Click to go to Amazon to order a pad of paper or go to Jerry's Artarama by clicking here.
