Makayla is a fun loving fourteen year old who enjoys being involved in lots of different activities. Dance is her favorite activity. She has been dancing since she was three years old. Before Makayla was born we didn't know if she would ever be able to walk, let alone dance. Makayla was born with a rare birth defect complex called O.E.I.S.  Makayla was born with several birth defects which are associated with O.E.I.S., one of which being spina bifida which is a spinal cord defect. Makayla has endured over 50 surgeries in her lifetime. Through all that Makayla has always been able to find the silver lining in every situation. She is a strong and brave girl who inspires all who know her. She has never let her medical issues stop her from doing any activity she wants to try. She is the definition of Grit. She never says can't, she never gives up and she does everything with a smile. She is a truly amazing young lady! 
This year's Walk-N-Roll will be a fun chance for everyone to try new activities, something Makayla is always up for. Walk-N-Roll is a great opportunity for us to visit with other families who are living with spina bifida. To share information, to support and encourage each other. Everyone is welcome to join us for a fun filled day. Walk-N-Roll is our biggest fundraiser every year. The money raised helps fund several programs that offers support to those living with spina bifida by covering costs associated with needed supplies, equipment and services that aren't covered by insurance.
